CHILD NUTRITION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Introducing CNPweb

CNPweb is an Internet-enabled Child Nutrition Management System that gathers, assembles and distributes enrollment data, meal counts, financial cost data and other vital information for individual schools, school systems, sponsors, childcare centers and State Program Administrative Staff that are participating in the:

CNPweb is not a derivative product or system based on older technology. It is a fresh Internet-enabled approach to Child Nutrition Management that gathers, assembles and distributes enrollment data meal counts, financial cost data and other vital information for individual schools, school systems, sponsors, child care centers and State Program Administrative Staff that participate in:

  • National School Lunch Program & Child and Adult Care Food Program
  • School Breakfast Program & Summer Food Service Program
  • After School Snack Program & Summer Food Seamless Waiver
  • Special Milk Program & Food Distribution Program

You may find it comforting that at DIS, we've been automating Child Nutrition Programs for more than 10 years. This experience has made us a leader in the development and implementation of Child Nutrition Management Systems. In fact, no one else offers the wisdom and experience that we do for the next generation of Child Nutrition Management Systems.

CNPweb comes from our broad base of technical expertise. These skills help us find innovative solutions for complex and continuously changing information problems. As a result, we've made the cumbersome process of Child Nutrition Management more efficient, simpler and frankly, easier.

How important is "ease of use?" It's one of the best measures of a software program's value. Easy means less time learning a new program and more time to serve your clients. What's more, with our skilled assistance, we make it easy for you to transition your business process to the Internet.

We have taken some important steps in the design of CNPweb. For example Database Independence. CNPweb will run on many of the popular database software programs. Here are some of the system's key features.

Top Key Features
(1) CNPweb has been in production for over 3 years and is being used by states such as Delaware, Louisiana, Indiana and Alaska. The School Nutrition Programs, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Summer Food Service Program (Lugar) and Food Distribution Program are all fully supported.
(2) Easy navigation is often a neglected feature in web design. CNPweb utilizes Breadcrumb-Trail Navigation for easy access to all of its features. A trail of titles from previous forms or pages is dynamically generated as the user navigates through the site. The trail is always available to select from, and making it clear to users where they are in the site and enables easy navigation to documents closer to the front page. This type of navigation is used extensively in many commercial web sites today.
(3) CNPweb makes correcting errors on an application, claim or any other online document a snap by displaying the errors on the same page. In addition, context sensitive help and a unique numbering system has been added to each input field on the form. This makes locating and correcting the error easy for the author, which in turn will reduce the number of support calls the state may receive.
(4) Tracking and responding to revisions made to a sponsor's application throughout the program year has also been simplified. When a revision is made to an application or any other online form, the changed field or area on the form is hi-lighted by the system. In order to examine the change made simply move the mouse pointer onto the field and a tool tip will display the previous value before the change occurred. Each change made an online document is stored in the database for future review.
(5) CNPweb supports both sponsor and site based meal count reporting for claim reimbursement. States that prefer to submit meal count data at the sponsor level can do so. On the other hand, states that conduct meal counts at the site level or are planning on doing so in the future can do so through the site based claim forms that are included in the system.
(6) CNPweb is entirely web-based and allows User access to the application twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, allowing data entry at the earliest possible time permitted by federal regulations. Claims payment processing turnaround is monitored at both the system and state level to ensure that claims are processed in a timely manner.
(7) A wide variety of reports are available through a web-interface that incorporates Crystal Reports 8.5 Web-based reporting platform. Accounting, management, historical, and numerous other reporting capabilities come with the system, including production of the FNS reports for all programs.
(8) CNPweb is database independent and runs on most of the popular database programs such as Oracle and SQL Server. This feature allows IT directors to decide on database technology changes without concern for data migration rewriting source code at the database level.
(9) CNPweb Offers one of the most comprehensive security features of any Child Nutrition Program Management Systems. Through a roles based process, a state can allow Add, Edit, Delete and View capabilities in any combination to any of the forms that are available online to any role(s) the state chooses. In addition, the number of roles the sate can setup up is limitless. State users can be setup for access to all of the sponsors online, while users associated with sponsors can be limited to only the sponsor they are assigned to. Reports are also restricted within the security mechanism to so that only selected users can have access to reports that have been authorized by the state.
(10) CNPweb comes fully documented with a professionally developed User Manual and State Reference Manual.
(11) In the 2004-2005 School year, CNPweb will be upgraded to support automatic email notifications for the completion and announcement of critical events such as approved application packets, or missing claim notifications.
(12) New Crystal reports can be added to the existing list of reports that are displayed on the menu for users to select from without requiring any additional development.
(13) CNPweb Uses the concept of a single CORE reference table making maintenance and support much easier as well as reducing considerably the number of tables deployed in the application.
(14) CNPweb has also been designed to be modular. Although there are numerous programs that are supported, only the programs your state are interested in can be purchased and installed.

Technology
Our creative Child Nutrition Information Management Systems are designed to take advantage of future technologies. CNPweb will be easily transportable to ASP.NET because of its database independence and modular design.

The driving force behind CNPweb is a series of thoroughly engineered component based software programs designed to work together efficiently allowing for maximum flexibility and expandability. These components will eventually be migrated to the ASP.NET framework

CNPweb is NOT database dependent and can therefore be deployed on the database server of your choice.

CNPweb can be installed centrally on a web server at your State Department of Education. All users need in order to access the system is a Web browser and Internet access account. DIS can also host and manage your CNPweb system.
